TRUMP 2020 CAMPAIGN LAUNCHES 'KEEP AMERICA GREAT' HATS, PROCLAIMS THEY'RE 'PROUDLY MADE IN USA'

President Donald Trump's 2020 reelection campaign has released new "Keep America Great" hats, an update to his 2016 campaign slogan, "Make America Great Again."

The caps, which are red with white lettering, went on sale this week on the president's official campaign store, which claims they are "Proudly Made in USA." Previous reports revealed that some Trump merchandise—including MAGA caps, banners and flags—were being made in Chinese factories, despite trade tensions with China and the president's repeated criticism of the country.

"In 2016 Donald Trump promised to Make America Great Again—and now we have to Keep America Great! Order your official Keep America Great hat today!" the caption on the Trump 2020 website reads. It cautions, however, that customers should "anticipate a delay in delivery due to overwhelming support."

The baseball cap, which "Keep America Great" embroidered on front and a plastic snap closure on the back retails for $25.

President Trump modeled the new caps at a rally Thursday in New Hampshire, after quizzing attendees about whether they wanted to change his campaign slogan.

"Do we give up the greatest theme... phrase, logo, in the history of politics?" he said. "Because 'Make America Great Again'—we're really sort of there. And we have a little time left."

"Who's in favor of our theme being 'Keep America Great'?" he asked the crowd, which cheered and held up signs with the new slogan. He then pulled out the cap and started to put it on, before tossing it back to the person he reportedly borrowed it from.

President Trump officially launched his 2020 reelection campaign with "Keep America Great" in June at a rally in Orlando, where he was nearly drowned out by supporters chanting "USA! USA! USA!"

"How do you give up the greatest theme of all time with a new theme?" he asked the audience. "If I lose, people are going to say what a mistake that was. But we're not going to lose, so it's not going to matter."

Trump 2020 banners
This photo taken on July 13, 2018 shows a Chinese employee sewing a banner declaring President Donald Trump's re-election intentions that reads "Trump 2020: Keep America Great" at a factory in Fuyang in China's eastern Anhui province

In July 2018, numerous reports surfaced that Chinese factories were rushing out Trump election merchandise to beat the impact of threatened tariffs, which have since been implemented. David Lassoff, a manager for California's Incredible Gifts, told CBS Newsthat he had been stockpiling Chinese-made MAGA caps after receiving warnings that prices could increase due to trade tensions between Beijing and Washington.

Photos and video were also widely circulated of "Keep America Great" banners being printed by workers in China, but the Trump campaign dismissed those reports as "fake news."

"We have made it clear all along that all of our merchandise is 100% made in the USA," Michael Glassner, executive director of Trump's re-election campaign said in a statement to CNN. "Any vendor who claims to have a relationship with us otherwise is lying or violating our protected trademark rights."
