When you're in a faraway New Zealand exotic place - a city near Antarctica called Dunedin, And while I was feeling deeply helpless in my bed alone, a tall, large old man, my neighbour, walked up to my bed with a smile and kindness, held out a large hand, took my hand tightly, and said gently:“Hello! My name is Professor Murray Tiillard.”We talked for a while, and although it wasn't very smooth in English, I noticed a rare warm, gracious force holding me. So we started a warm and loving relationship.
I quickly found Professor Murray Tiillard's resume online, and it turned out that he was a well-respected medical and educator in New Zealand's medical and educational fields.

I have built a career around making research useful to primary care clinicians. My clinical and research experiences have been intertwined since very early in my career. My research was initially driven by questions about my own clinical practice, then by questions about how and why my clinical practice was different to the practices of my colleagues, then by a need to find and make available the best research evidence to inform our clinical practices. Most recently I have researched changed clinical behaviour following information about best research evidence.
My research interest in patient safety has grown throughout my career and I now think of safety as the major challenge for our health system presently and into the future. I led the New Zealand arm of the first international primary care patient safety study that set up a reporting system so that GPs could report safety incidents that they had observed in their practices.
The New Zealand-Australia trip should be the end of my overseas trip. All five continents, Asia, Europe and America, especially Europe, have gone almost everywhere. Last year, I also turned to Africa, and even though I only set foot in Morocco, it was a "great step" that finally paid tribute to Africa. Only Oceania hasn't landed yet, so I plan to make a trip this year. The "four seas churning and five continents shaking" that hovered in my mind for so many decades was in place, and I touched it.
Because I was flying from Xiamen to Guangzhou to Auckland, I was reluctant to rush. I took the high-speed train to Xiamen a day earlier and stayed at the Takazaki Airport Hotel. Once a person stays in a hotel, they don't want to move. Xiamen has been in Xiamen more than a dozen times. I remember coming for the first time in 1980. As soon as I got to the station, I took a bus to the beach of Gulangyu, took off my clothes and jumped into the sea. Now that I'm old, I don't want to move anymore. I ate a buffet in the lobby in the evening and went upstairs to rest.
After breakfast the next day, the hotel sent me a car to the airport, where I arrived in a few minutes. As soon as I arrived at the airport, I received a phone call from my close friend Brother Shi Guang, asking me about my departure and advising me on the road. It warmed my heart. We have known each other for thirty years and have maintained this fine brotherhood. It's really enough to know yourself in this life.
The flight from Xiamen to Guangzhou and from Guangzhou to Auckland took less than eleven hours, which is a complete departure for someone who has been used to flying for fifteen hours. After getting on the plane, I had a good meal and then slept. Six or seven hours passed. At this time, I saw a bright moon outside the window, which was very bright, which shows that the sky here in the southern hemisphere is extremely clear.
After more than ten hours of flight, the plane landed at Auckland Airport. When we got out of the gate, took our luggage, and everyone waited to get into the car. It was a little rain outside, and they all waited inside, looking around the hall. There was nothing fancy decorated, just an old plane dangling from the top of the hall. It felt very quiet in the hall, and the silence had a particular force that made one feel pressured. The bus arrived, loaded up, and boarded. The bus drove directly to an attraction, a hillside where you climbed a staircase to view the city of Auckland in full view. I walked back halfway and turned back to the bus to wait for everyone to come back.
We then visited the village of Waqare Valea Maori in Oakland, the hobbit village of Matamata, the location of the Lord of the Rings and Lord of the Ring, Lake Rotorua and the city of Oakland, before flying from Oakland to Queenstown on the South Island the following day.
Queenstown, New Zealand is a beautiful town surrounded by the Southern Alps and a beautiful city surrounded with the mountains. Queenstown is full of sightseeing spots. Summers are bright and blue, autumns are colorful with bright red and golden leaves, winters are sunny, there are large snowy mountains, and spring is a time of hundreds of flowers. The four seasons are distinct and have very different appearances. Lake Wakatipu, near the city, is a deep, blue mountain lake. Several green-brown mountains covered in snow dotted the splendid mountains in the background. From Queenstown to the top of the hill, it's a green, oily color. Queenstown got its name from the fact that the colonists thought the scenic area should be owned by the Queen, hence the name Queenstown.
Queenstown is an attraction I am looking forward to, because my close friend Shen Shiguang has told me about Queenstown many times, and he especially took photos of their hotel near the lake, saying that staying in this hotel offers panoramic views of Alpine Lake. So as soon as I got to Queenstown, I took several photos of the hotel in a row and sent them to Brother Shi Guang. On this day, we visited Queenstown, especially on a cruise for more than an hour and arrived at a scenic spot. We had a good lunch here and watched a sheep shaving show. In the afternoon we went back to town on the cruise and visited several of the town's attractions. Then we arrived at our hotel, we put down our luggage and went out with the group. By this time I felt tired, and I didn't go out again, staying alone in the hotel. Until evening, I developed chest pains. At first I didn 't take it too seriously, and took a painkiller and rested, but by night I suddenly felt a little unable to breathe. So he called the guide and asked to visit the hospital. Soon an ambulance arrived at the hotel. The two medical staff examined me, carried me onto a stretcher, and pushed me onto an airbag at the door. The car drove to the hospital in Queenstown. The doctors at the hospital immediately performed various tests, initially diagnosed heart failure, and then treated me with a bottle of medication. They did so until morning, when they told me that since the hospital in Queenstown was a small hospital, they would take me by helicopter to Dunedin Hospital for treatment. So a helicopter arrived at noon and stopped on the lawn of the hospital yard. The paramedics pushed me into the helicopter. The helicopter took about a few decades and landed on top of the building of the hospital in the southern city of Dunedin. The staff pushed me straight to the building's emergency room for treatment. After two days of observation, I was placed in a large ward, and there was the scene I spoke of in the beginning -
I was alone in my hospital bed, looking out the window at the cityscape of Dunedin, when suddenly a tall, large old man, my next-bed friend, smiled and was kind enough to walk up to my hospital bed. He held out a large hand, took my hand tightly, and said gently:“Hello! My name is Professor Murray Tiillard.” We talked for a while, and although it wasn't very smooth in English, I noticed a rare warm, gracious force holding me. So we started a warm and loving relationship. My son was going to fly to New Zealand to accompany me for treatment, but he couldn't fly right away because he had to get a visa. Professor Murray Tiillard, who lived next door to me in my hospital bed, often greeted me, asked me about my condition, and comforted me. Since he was a renowned medical doctor and a professor at a university medical school, his words gave me great confidence.
About a week later, my son Xiaohang finally flew to Dunedin. Professor Murray Tiillard welcomed Xiaohang with the same warmth and sincerity. The two men immediately became conversationless, and they discussed my condition in detail. Professor Murray Tiillard designed a treatment plan for me based on my condition and the doctor's diagnosis. In the ensuing time, in addition to his own treatment, he continued to pay attention to my treatment and discussed my treatment process in depth with Xiao Guan.
At this point I encountered several things, the first of which was whether or not I needed to have surgery; The second thing is whether I can fly back to the United States from New Zealand, because long-haul flights have very strict medical requirements. The third thing was how I was being given a certificate to fly long distances after I had stayed in New Zealand for treatment and recuperation; Fourth thing, after being discharged from the hospital, I need to stay in Dunedin, continue to recuperate for a while, and then undergo an examination to be sure I can fly to Oakland and eventually back to New York.
Professor Murray Tiillard showed great enthusiasm and love, and at the outset he made detailed recommendations on my treatment plan; Next, he called a doctor friend of his and arranged for me to visit his clinic in half a month and issue a doctor's certificate suitable for a long flight. Third, he called a Chinese friend and asked him to rent a home for us in Dunedin. His Chinese friend immediately called to rent us a home in the mountains. Professor Murray Tiillard solved a series of problems successfully for us. That day, as we took our medication and prepared to leave the hospital, we and Professor Murray Tiillard embraced each other fondly to say goodbye.
We stayed in our house in the mountains of Dunedin for over half a month. The landlords were a Taiwanese couple who had been in New Zealand earlier. The air in the hills was good. The landlady kept the room clean and tidy. The air was good in the valley. I recovered after more than half a months of recuperation. After our own tests, there was no problem flying from Dunedin to Auckland.
Before leaving Dunedin, Xiao Hang and Professor Murray Tiillard said goodbye and thanked us, but Professor Murray tiillard insisted on coming to take us off, which we politely declined several times because the drive from the city to the mountains was not near, taking more than half an hour. But Professor Murray Tiillard insisted on coming to take us away. We were so moved that we packed our bags early and waited for Professor Murray Tillard's arrival. More than half an hour later, Professor Murray Tiillard, in a Mustang sports car, arrived at our residence. We and Professor Murray Teillard hugged warmly, were very excited, and sat next to each other on the sofa, We had a knee-jerk conversation. He asked for advice, gave advice, and wished us peace. It took more than half an hour before we said goodbye to us and drove back to town in the Mustang. When he hit the accelerator, I felt like Professor Murray Tiillard was a young racing driver and very handsome. We then took a taxi to Dunedin Airport. Along the way, I thought about Professor Murray Tiillard and was very emotional! I'm so moved!
I was wondering what kind of a person Professor Murray Tiillard really was? From an early age we read the classic "In Memoriam of Bethune." The Canadian doctor we knew, Dr. Bethune, was "a noble man, a pure man, someone of morality, someone out of low taste, someone who benefits the people." He has made a profound mark in the depths of our hearts, and his tall image remains in our hearts forever.
But Professor Murray Tiillard reminds us of the Dr. Bethune in our hearts, but he is very different from Dr. Bethone. Professor Murray Tiillard, an ordinary New Zealander, is a professor and expert with a high reputation in New Zealand medical, educational and even international medical circles. He also served as an international medical adviser to the Obamacare program in the United States, He is also a royally decorated knight, a high-ranking professor, scholar, and knight who has shown so much warmth, sincerity, care, and help to me as a Chinese living in a foreign country. What kind of heart is that? What kind of a pattern is it? What kind of love is it? Professor Murray Tiillard gave me a deep sense of humanism and a strong sense of human love. This love transcends borders, races, and seas, demonstrating the kindness and compassion that humanity should all share. Professor Murray Tiillard is the embodiment and angel of love and compassion.
New Zealand, Australia was the last stop on my international trip. Unfortunately, I fell ill just a few days after setting foot in New Zealand. However, this illness took me another month to live in New Zealand, during which I developed a deep appreciation of the beautiful country and met people from all walks of life. I have felt the warmth, simplicity, hospitality and fraternity of the people of New Zealand. In addition to Professor Murray Tiillard, I have had contact with my primary physician, Mr. Peter, and the supporting nurse. I have felt an angel's kindness and excellent professionalism in them. Although I was treated alone in the hospital, I did not feel lonely, I could even say that I enjoyed the best medical care system and the care and care of the doctors and nurses. I remember when I was doing imaging surgery, when I got pushed into the operating room and the doctor who did my imaging was handsome and humorous, turning a serious operating room into a very relaxed "sitting room" full of warmth. I was thinking that if there were hospitals in heaven, it would have to look like Dunedin Hospital. If my condition improves, I will visit New Zealand again. I also want to tell my friends that you may come to visit New Zealand because it is a beautiful New Zealand, a welcoming New Zealand, an loving New Zealand, and a New Zealand that makes you carefree.

新西兰澳大利亚之旅，应该是我出国游的收官行。五大洲，亚洲欧洲美洲都去了，特别是欧洲，几乎走遍了。去年也拐到非洲，虽脚步只踏上摩洛哥，但却是迈出的“伟大的一步”，总算致敬了非洲。唯有大洋洲还没有登陆，所以今年计划必走一趟。如此几十年盘旋在脑海里的“四海翻腾，五洲震荡”都一一到位，触摸了一把。
因为要从厦门飞广州转飞奥克兰，我不愿意赶路，提早一天坐高铁去厦门，住在高崎机场酒店。人一住酒店就不想动了。厦门来过十几次，记得1980年第一次来，一到车站，就乘车来到鼓浪屿海滩，脱下衣服就往大海里扑。现在上了年纪，就不想动了。晚上到大堂吃了一顿自助餐，就上楼休息了。
第二天吃了早餐，酒店派车送我到了机场，几分钟便到。刚到机场，便接到挚友世光兄的电话，询问我出发的情况，嘱咐路途上的注意事项。这让我心里很暖。我们相识三十年，始终保持着这份精致的兄弟情谊。真是此生得一知己足矣。
从厦门飞广州，又从广州飞奥克兰，十一个小时不到，对我这种飞惯了十五个小时的人来说，完全不在话下。上了飞机后，好好吃了一餐，然后睡了一觉，六七个小时也就过去。这时候看到窗外天空上一轮明月，居然亮得刺眼，可见南半球这里天空是极其明净的。
经过十多个小时的飞行，飞机在奥克兰机场降落。出关，取了行李，大家等着上车，外面下着小雨，都在里面等，环顾大厅，没有什么豪华装饰，只有一架旧式飞机吊在大厅顶上。感觉大厅特别安静，这种安静有一种特别的劲道，让人感到威压。大巴来了，装上行李，然后登车。大巴直接开到一个景点，是一个小山坡，是要爬上一处台阶，到上面去观望奥克兰城市全景。我半途而退，转身回到大巴前，等大家回来。
随后，我们先后游览了奥克兰华卡雷瓦雷瓦毛利村、玛塔玛塔霍比特人村、《魔戒》《指环王》的取景地、罗托鲁阿湖和奥克兰城市，然后在次日从奥克兰飞往南岛的皇后镇游览。
新西兰的皇后镇是一个被南阿尔卑斯山包围的美丽小镇，也是一个依山傍水的美丽城市。皇后镇全处都是观光地点，夏季蓝天艳阳，秋季为鲜红与金黄的叶子染成缤纷多彩的面貌，冬天的气候清爽晴朗，还有大片覆着白雪的山岭，而春天又是百花盛开的日子。四季分明，各有着截然不同的面貌。市区附近的瓦卡蒂普湖(Lake Wakatipu)是座深而蓝的高山湖。壮丽的山脉上几座覆着白雪的绿棕色山点缀于背景中。从皇后镇到山顶，则是一片绿油油的色彩。皇后镇之名源于殖民者认为此处风景秀丽应属女王所有，由此得名皇后镇。
皇后镇是我非常期待的游览景点，这是因为我的挚友沈世光兄跟我多次介绍过皇后镇，他还特别拍下了他们居住在湖边的饭店的照片，说住在这个饭店可以饱览高山湖的湖景。所以我一到皇后镇就连续拍了几张饭店的照片发给世光兄。这一天，我们在皇后镇旅游，特别坐游轮一个多小时，抵达到一处风景点，在这边好好的吃的一顿午餐，并观看剃羊毛的节目，下午又坐游轮回到镇上，又游览了镇上的几处景点，然后我们到达下榻的宾馆，大家放下行李，又随团出去游览，这时候我已经感觉到疲倦，就没有再出去，一个人呆在宾馆里，一直到晚上，我出现了胸口闷痛，开始我没太当一回事，吃了一片止痛药就休息，可是到夜里我突然感觉到有些喘不过气来，于是就打电话给导游，要求到医院去看看，很快救护车就赶来宾馆，两位医护人员给我做了检查，就把我抬到担架车上，然后推到门口的救护车上，车子开到皇后镇的医院，医院的医生立刻做了各种检查，初步诊断为心力衰竭，然后用药挂瓶进行治疗抢救，一直弄到早晨，医生跟我说由于皇后镇的医院是一个小医院，他们要把用直升机送我到但尼丁医院去治疗，于是中午时候来了一架直升机，停在医院院子里的草坪上，医护人员把我推上了直升机里，直升机大约开了几十分钟落到了新西兰南部城市但尼丁医院的大楼顶上，工作人员就把我直接推到大楼的急诊室进行治疗，经过两天的观察治疗，我又被安排到了一个大病房里，于是就出现了开头我所说的那个场景——
我独自躺在病床上，望着窗外但尼丁的城市景像，突然，一位高大魁梧的老者、我的邻床病友，满面笑容和蔼可亲走到我的病床前，伸出一只大手，紧紧地握住我的手，温柔地说：“你好！我是默里·蒂利亚德教授。”我们交流了一阵，虽然用英语交流不是很顺畅，但是我明显感觉到有一股罕见的温暖亲切的力量拥抱着我。于是我们开启了一段充满温暖慈爱的交往。当时我儿子要飞来新西兰陪我治疗，但是因为要办理签证却不能马上飞来，默里·蒂利亚德教授就住在我隔壁的病床，他经常和我打招呼，询问我病情，并且安慰我，因为他是一位著名医学家，又是大学医学院的教授，所以他的话给我以极大的信心。
大约一周，儿子晓航终于飞来但尼丁，默里·蒂利亚德教授以同样的热情和真诚欢迎晓航的到来，两个人立刻成为无话不谈的忘年交，他们详细地讨论了我的病情。默里·蒂利亚德教授根据我的病情和医生的诊断，给我设计了治疗方案。在随后的时间，他除了自己在治疗外，不断地关注我的治疗，和晓航深入分析讨论我的治疗进程。
这时候我遇到了几件事情，第一件事情就是我是否需要做手术；第二件事情，我能否从新西兰飞回美国，因为长途飞行对身体状况有非常严格的要求；第三件事情，在我留在新西兰治疗休养好了以后如何在给我出具一个可以长途飞行的证明；第四件事情，出院以后需要在丹尼丁住下，继续休养一段时间，然后经过检查，确定可以飞往奥克兰最终飞回纽约。
默里·蒂利亚德教授表现出极大热情和爱心，首先他对我的治疗方案提出了详细的建议；其次他一个电话请来他的一位医生朋友，安排好半个月后我到他的诊所检查，并出具适合长途飞行的医生证明；第三，他又打了一个电话，叫来了一位华裔朋友，请他为我们在但尼丁租一套住房，他的华裔朋友当即打电话为我们在山里租了一套住房。默里·蒂利亚德教授为我们顺利地解决了一系列问题。那天，当我们取了药，准备出院时，我们和默里·蒂利亚德教授深情拥抱告别。
我们在但尼丁山里的住房住了半个多月，房东是一对早年来新西兰的台湾夫妇，山里空气好，房东把房间收拾得干净整洁，山里的空气又好，我经过半个多月的休养，身体得以恢复。经过我们自测，从但尼丁飞往奥克兰没有问题。
在离开但尼丁的之前，晓航和默里·蒂利亚德教授告别致谢，却不料，默里·蒂利亚德教授执意要来为我们送行，我们几次婉言谢绝，因为从城里开车到山里来路途并不近，要开半个多小时。但是默里·蒂利亚德教授坚持要来为我们送行，我们深受感动，早早整理好行李，等待默里·蒂利亚德教授的到来。过了半个多小时，默里·蒂利亚德教授开着一辆野马跑车，来到我们住所，我们和默里·蒂利亚德教授热情拥抱，非常激动，紧挨着坐在沙发上，促膝交谈，他询问建议，交代叮嘱，祝愿平安，整整谈了半个多小时，才和我们告别，开着野马跑车回城里，当他一踩油门，我感觉默里·蒂利亚德教授像一位年轻的赛车手，潇洒极了。我们随后叫了一辆出租车去但尼丁机场，一路上，我默想着默里·蒂利亚德教授，万分感慨！万分感动！
我在想默里·蒂利亚德教授到底是一个什么样的人？从小我们就熟读了经典的文章《纪念白求恩》，我们认识的加拿大的医生白求恩大夫是“一个高尚的人，一个纯粹的人，一个有道德的人，一个脱离了低级趣味的人，一个有益于人民的人。”他在我们的心灵深处打下了深刻的烙印，他的高大形象在我们的心里永驻。
但是默里·蒂利亚德教授就会让我们想起我们心中那个白求恩大夫，但是他又和白求恩大夫有极大的不同，默里·蒂利亚德教授是一个平凡的新西兰人，是一位在新西兰医学界、教育界、甚至在国际医学界有着极高声望的教授和专家，他还曾经担任过美国奥巴马医疗计划的国际医学顾问，他还是一位受到过皇家嘉奖的勋爵，就是这样一位高高在上的教授、学者、勋爵，却对我一个身处他乡异国的中国人表现出如此之大的热忱、真诚、关怀和帮助，那么这又是一种什么样的心怀呢？又是一种什么样的格局呢？又是一种什么样的大爱呢？默里·蒂利亚德教授让我深深感觉到了深刻的人文情怀和强烈的人类大爱。这种大爱跨越了国界，跨越了种族，跨越了大海，彰显的人类应该共同拥有的仁爱和慈悲。默里·蒂利亚德教授就是仁爱和慈悲的化身和天使。
新西兰，澳大利亚是我国际之旅最后一站，很不幸，当我刚刚踏上新西兰的几天时间便病倒了，但是这次的病倒又使我在新西兰多住了一个月，这一个月的时间里让我深刻的感受到了新西兰这个美丽的国家，而且我广泛的接触了各界人士，感受到了新西兰民众的热情、淳朴、好客和友爱，除了默里·蒂利亚德教授外，我还接触了我的主治医生彼特先生和医助护士，我从他们的身上感受到了天使般的仁爱和优良的专业素质，尽管我独自一人在医院中治疗，但是我没有感觉到孤独，我甚至可以说我享受到了最好的医疗保障体系和享受到了医生护士的精心治疗和无微不至的关怀，我记得在做造影手术时，当我被推进手术室，为我做造影的那位医生帅气幽默，把一个严肃的手术室演变成一个非常轻松充满温馨的“会客厅”，我在想天堂如果有医院，那一定就是但尼丁医院这个样子。如果我的病情好转了，我会再到新西兰来游览，我也想告诉我的朋友们，你们尽管来新西兰旅游，因为那里是一个美丽的新西兰，一个热情的新西兰，一个充满爱的新西兰，一个让你无忧无虑的新西兰。
