Trump moves Cabinet meeting from Camp David to the White House
President Donald Trump announced Tuesday afternoonhe will cancel plans to hold a meeting of his Cabinet at the Camp David presidential retreatand hold it in the White House instead due to the inclement weather forecast for Wednesday.
"Based on the possible bad weather conditions tomorrow, we will be having our Cabinet Meeting in the White House, and will be postponing the Cabinet trip to Camp David," Trump posted on his social media platform.
The National Weather Service forecasts thunderstorms in the region on Wednesday.
According to a White House official, all Cabinet members were expected to attend, and the meeting would "highlight recent successes of the administration including economy and small business wins, Task Force to Eliminate Fraud highlights, and foreign policy updates."
The plans to travel to the presidential retreat was first reported by the New York Post.
The trip would have been Trump's first return to Camp David in almost a year.
Trump previously visited the retreat in Catoctin Mountain Park in Frederick County, Maryland, last June in what the White House described at the time as "a regular off campus retreat of principals attended by the President and Vice President."
The decision to hold an official Cabinet meeting at Camp David marked a departure from typical practice, though it is not unprecedented for Trump, who helda Cabinetmeeting there in September 2017 during his first term, as well, which was closed to the press.
