本周一，白宫椭圆办公室举办宣誓仪式，托德・布兰奇正式就任美国司法部长，主持仪式的法官埃米尔・博夫曾和他一同担任特朗普的辩护律师。 本次宣誓仪式不向媒体开放，布兰奇的妻子、女儿、孙女等家属到场观礼。布兰奇当天从司法部前往白宫途中接受 CNN 采访，表示自己 “状态不错”。
博夫与布兰奇共事的过往，以及二人在司法部的任职经历，让他主持本次宣誓仪式格外引人关注。 二人当年共同为特朗普辩护后，均获任命进入司法部高层。2025 年布兰奇正式获批出任司法部长前，博夫担任代理副司法部长，是布兰奇的副手;如今博夫已是联邦第三巡回上诉法院法官。
在司法部任职期间，博夫素有特朗普 “政治打手” 之称，主导了首轮大规模裁撤职业检察官与司法部公职人员的行动。其中一件极具争议的事件是：纽约与华盛顿多名检察官拒绝在撤销纽约前市长埃里克・亚当斯贪腐指控的司法文书上签字，博夫直接将这批检察官全部解职。
2025 年 5 月，特朗普提名博夫出任联邦第三巡回上诉法院法官。其提名听证会上，多名民主党议员指控，博夫当年在司法部主导了大量带有政治偏向的操作，包括无视法院判决、逼迫检察官按照总统个人诉求办案。
联邦调查局局长卡什・帕特尔、白宫政策副幕僚长斯蒂芬・米勒也出席了本次宣誓仪式。
布兰奇于本周六凌晨经参议院投票确认出任司法部长，投票结果 50 票赞成、49 票反对。两名共和党参议员苏珊・柯林斯、莉萨・穆尔科斯基与民主党人一同投下反对票。
布兰奇主导重塑司法部，使其政策高度贴合特朗普施政纲领。他提出多项扩大总统权力、强化总统职位保护的法律主张，大规模辞退资深检察官与老员工，推行的法律策略甚至引发全美多地法官质疑司法部裁决。
当天晚些时候，有记者询问特朗普，旨在补偿遭联邦政府不当调查民众的 “反政府公权滥用赔偿基金” 是否继续生效。此前布兰奇为换取参议员支持，签署文件正式废止该基金。
特朗普回应：“这件事由托德・布兰奇定夺。我相信他会成为一名出色的司法部长。”
Trump’s former lawyers: Judge Emil Bove swears in Attorney General Todd Blanche at the White House
Todd Blanche was sworn in as attorney general on Monday in an Oval Office ceremony led by his former Donald Trump defense-team colleague, JudgeEmil Bove.
The swearing-in was held without press access. Blanche’s family members, including his wife, daughter and granddaughter, attended. Blanche told CNN he was “feeling good” as he left the Justice Department Monday for the White House.
Bove’s historywith Blanche — and at the Justice Department — make his role in the ceremony notable.
After he and Blanche worked together on Trump’s defense, both were appointed to senior positions within the Justice Department. Bove was acting deputy attorney general before Blanche was confirmed in 2025, then Blanche’s top deputy. He now serves as federal appeals court judge.
At the department, Bove quickly earned a reputation as Trump’s hatchet man, leading the first waves of mass ousting’s of career prosecutors and other department officials. In one notable episode, Bove axed several prosecutors in New York and Washington, DC, whorefused to sign their namesto court documents dropping corruption charges against former New York City Mayor Eric Adams.
President Donald Trump nominated Bove to the 3rd US Circuit Court of Appeals in May 2025. His confirmation hearings were rife with allegations from Democratic lawmakers that Bove was behind the most political efforts inside the department at the time, including efforts to ignore judge’s rulings and to pressure prosectors to move forward with the president’s personal agenda.
FBI Director Kash Patel and Stephen Miller, White House deputy chief of staff for policy, also attended the swearing in.
Blanche was confirmedas attorney general early Saturday morning in a 50–49 Senate vote. Two GOP senators, Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski, joined Democrats in opposing the nomination.
Blanche has played a key role in reshaping the Justice Department to align more closely with the president’s agenda. He has advanced legal arguments that expand presidential authority and strengthen protections for the presidency and overseen large-scale firings of experienced prosecutors and longtime officials, and spearheaded a legal strategy that has made judges across the nation question the department’s decisions.
Trump was asked later in the day if the “anti-weaponization fund” — created to compensate people who believe they were improperly investigated by the federal government — was still in effect. As part of his confirmation negotiations with senators, Blanche signed a document formally rescinding the fund.
“Well, that’ll be up to Todd Blanche,” Trump said. “He … will be, I think, a great attorney general.”
